Cozy Cat is a real-looking 3D cat that lives on your Windows desktop and grows from a kitten into an adult over a few weeks while you work.

Five things worth knowing

1. It lives on your actual desktop.The cat walks around your desktop or on top of your windows, and now and then hops up to sit on the window you’re using. Clicks pass through everywhere except the cat, and it steps aside for full-screen games and video.
2. It grows up slowly.A kitten becomes an adult over several weeks, and its trust in you builds little by little.
3. Petting and play are hands-on.Scratch under its chin, meet its eyes, twitch a feather or throw a ball. Everything runs in real-time 3D at normal speed.
4. Try it first, pay once.Every feature is free for 3 days (the app calls it fostering). Adopting costs ₩4,900 once, and all 33 furnishings are included. No subscription, ads or gacha.
5. It updates itself.New cats, furnishings and features download on their own, and the cat brings a note about what’s new.

Fact sheet

How it’s made

Built by one person with Electron and three.js. The cat’s 3D model was generated with Tripo, an AI 3D tool, on a paid plan that allows commercial use, then rigged, animated and given its expressions in the app. The furniture is original. Third-party components and sounds are credited in the app’s notices.

Everything below is captured from the real app (version 1.2, the ginger cat you meet at launch). The desktop clips are recordings of a real Windows desktop; the taskbar is tidied to its clock.
